Nowadays, nut butter is the go-to protein and healthy fat snack, but have you ever tried making your own?

If you have a blender, you can make it yourself. It's very simple to make your own nut butter, and the best part is that you can use any nut you want. A variety of nuts, including walnuts, almonds, cashews, and macadamia nuts, can be used to make nut butters. Nut butter can also be made from seeds. 

What's more, it takes less than half an hour to prepare and only requires two ingredients.

As an example, take a look at the easy recipe below:

 

Nut Butter:

Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 10 minutes
Total time: 25 minutes
Makes: 32 servings

 

Ingredients:

4 cup raw nuts (blanched almonds, hazelnuts, etc.). Feel free to mix and match a few based on your personal preferences. 

 

Optional Add ins:

Coconut butter
Sea salt
Flax or pumpkin seeds

 

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and roast nuts for 8-12 minutes.
  2. In a food processor, combine nuts and enough water to cover the ingredients. Mix on high until everything is mixed well.
  3. Nuts will transform from clumps to a creamy nut butter, scrape the sides, as necessary. This process will take about 10 minutes.
  4. If desired, add your optional add-ins. Enjoy!
